when simple tasks turns out to be impossible for your brain.

we all have unique brains and each and every one of us learns differently, But living with learning disabilities brings up its own unique challenges. Sometimes the contrast between what i can and cant do is so huge that it almost makes it a bit funny. For example I am able to take care of my personal hygiene and do most of the household chores independently but i still have no idea how the heck a can opener works, besides my instructor showing it to me about twenty times already. My brain just goes to error mode and cant figure out such a simple task.

when you live with learning disabilities life becomes an adventure when we never know where extra guidance is needed. Learning English took me way longer than it does for most people but nowadays i am quite fluent and can have conversations with people all over the world.

I am struggling a bit when it comes to navigating around my home town besides living here most of my life. I am always checking on google maps how long it takes to walk from point A to point B. One day when trying to find my way to the bowling alley I almost got lost due to accidentally picking up unfamiliar route. It was one of those “oh my brain just stopped working again” moments. how ever i eventually found my way to the right place but this was certainly a bit frustrating.

I have learned to function with my unique brain and to ask for help when its needed, but sometimes it feels embarrassing when simple tasks are too difficult for me to handle. learning difficulties are nothing to be ashamed of we can all live full-filling lives with some assistance in certain areas.

It helps when you find the courage to be open and honest about your struggles. For example, during work i often need to re-check instructions and ask my coworkers to only give me one instruction at the time, because otherwise i just get too overwhelmed and nothing gets done. When given enough time i am able to execute my tasks just fine.

do you have learning disabilities or know someone who has?, how does it impact yours/theirs daily lives?
